2009 Commuter Challenge

May 31 – June 6, 2009

June 10th Update:

2009 National Commuter Challenge Event

is now officially over and registration is closed!

We are proud to announce that we have exceeded 2008 national results by almost 10,000 participants totalling 44,551.  We applaud your dediction in making your city a better place to live by leaving your car at home and using a healthier mode of commuter transportation to get to work.

We hope you found value in your dashboard of emission saving, dollars saved and calories burned.    You can still view reports by clicking on Results or login as an administrator for more detailed workplace reports.  We thank TeleTrips for their generous contribution towards this project.   To enhance your telework program at your workplace, contact TeleTrips for more information.

Stay tuned for future programs.

Commuter Challenge is a national program that encourages Canadians to walk, cycle, ride-share/carpool, tele-work or take transit instead of driving alone to work.  Individual Canadians can participate in addition to workplaces.  We encourage you to give your car some time off throughout the year to make a difference!

The program is based on a friendly competition between workplaces and communities across Canada to see which has the highest percentage participation rates during the week. By recording participation online, Canadians are able to see how their healthier commutes affect greenhouse gases reductions by tracking kilometers traveled.

This year the Commuter Challenge is proud to support the WORKshift program.  WORKshift is a Calgary regional initiative to promote, educate and accelerate the adoption of telework in the business community.
